Ā

In her book All About Love, bell hooks introduction ā€œGrace: touched by Loveā€ starts with a quote from American Buddhist teacher Jack Kornfield: ā€œIt is possible to speak with our heart directly. Most ancient cultures know this. We can actually converse with a heart as if it were a good friend.ā€ bell hooks was an American author and social activist, and in this book she also writes about her experience as a child: ā€œWhen I was a child it was clear to me that life was not worth living if we do not know love. I wish I could testify that I came to this awareness because of the love I felt in my life. But it was a love absence that let me know how much love mattered.ā€ Coming into our authentic self, our intrinsic nature, the indispensable quality of ourselves requires some level of change and shifting and going beyond our fears. For some Transgender people, the Trans experience is a form of conversing with our hearts, a radical act of love, a restorying and restoring through the body guided by the ancient knowledge passed down from our ancestors.
