Synopsis: Uýra: A Retomada da Floresta (2022) | 72 min + Panel discussion 25/30 min

Uýra, an indigenous, transgender person and artist, travels through the Amazon rainforest to get to know herself better. Uýra teaches indigenous youth to address structural racism and transphobia in Brazil through performance art and communication with ancestors.

Uýra – The Rising Forest is an artistic, magical film about urgent topics that brings humanity closer to nature. The film intriguingly portrays community building among indigenous transgender and non-binary people who connect with nature and understand what climate justice really stands for: fighting racism and transphobia, trying to save our ecosystem, and much more. The film won an Audience Award at Frameline, San Francisco's International LGBTQ+ Film Festival.
